On November 10th, Joëlle Furic, the Grand Dame of the Breton Camping, died after a bravely endured illness. In 1960, her family acquired the Camping La Plage in Le Guilvinec. It is located by the sea and developed quickly to one of the most popular campsites in Brittany. The oil tanker disaster of the Amoco Cadiz in 1978 brought tourism in Brittany almost to a standstill. Nevertheless, the Furic family bought a vacation camp from the Renault works council, where the employees of the car manufacturer could spend subsidised summer vacations. That happened 20 years after the founding of Camping La Plage and the family awaked the campsite from a deep slumber. The adventure L'Océan Breton began. In 1996, when daughter Elisa took over the management, Joëlle Furic found the time to work intensively on the foundation of the Yelloh! Village chain. It became very quickly the top camping chain in France. L'Océan Breton is one of the ten founding members of this association. Joëlle was also active in the UBHPA association and the Association Camping Plus Bretagne. Kayleigh, Joëlle Furic's granddaughter, joined the company in 2013 and brought L'Océan Breton to the LeadingCampings of Europe in 2014. Of course she seeked approval from her grandmother, who had previously thoroughly examined the people involved in the Leadings. Joëlle could sing wonderfully, was a generous hostess and was able to entertain entire dinner parties magnificently. Although her human warmth was distinctive, as well she developed the high quality of her campsites with determination and consistency. She lived on the edge of the campsite until the end, so she was always in the middle of the action. We miss her very much and will cherish her memory. Joëlle Furic became 77 years old.
