Bit by bit the corona situation is easing. Since June 15th, we can travel within Europe without travel warning and may go to most of the countries, which we can reach by road. However, the pandemic is not finished yet: the social distancing- and hygienic regulations remain in force and most of the campsites maintain their restrictions. That includes especially quantitative limitations of presence of guests at the same time in pools, sports grounds and restaurants. As well, to wear a mask over nose and mouth in frequented public areas is still obligatory. We would like to ask you very sincerely to follow these instructions. A tightening would ruin the hard-won possibility to make holidays in this difficult year. Additionally, we would like to ask you not to start the holiday without reservation. During Whitsun and the long weekends in May most of the campsites were very crowded. Many LeadingCampings have changed their terms of cancellation in order to make booking easier for you. You can cancel your reservation free of charge 14 days before start of your journey, in some places even one week before. We are looking forward to welcoming you soon!

The most popular European classic car event, the ‘Schloss Dyck Classic Days’ had to be postponed due to the corona crisis. The 15th edition of the festival will take place from August 6th – August 8th 2021 at the usual place. The classic cars- and motor festival around the water castle with its English landscape garden near Jüchen is also attracting retro-camping friends. One of the 12 event areas looks like a historic campsite. Previously purchased tickets remain valid for the new date, detailed information at www.classic-days.de. However, supporters of the event can go the additional mile, because the voluntarily working people for the Schloss Dyck foundation suffer from headaches due to the high overhead costs. You can find ideas for making a contribution to the ongoing operation, e.g. buying fan articles, at www.wirsindclassicdays.de Additionally, you will find also other possibilities supporting the event: the crowdfunding platform 'Startnext' will start soon. We are convinced that caravanning is quaravantaing, i.e. a holiday with the greatest possible protection against infections. We do not believe, however, that this can apply to a public fair that has always attracted more than 200,000 visitors in recent years. Even if the Caravan-Salon in Düsseldorf has now been manoeuvred out of the ban zone of all major events until 31st of August by cleverly pushing it by one week: The LeadingCampings have cancelled their participation, although the headquarter of the LeadingCampings of Europe is in Düsseldorf and they have therefore traditionally always been exhibitors at the Caravan Salon there. Despite of the hygiene concept unveiled by the trade fair company a large number of show visitors are nevertheless among the particularly vulnerable group of people over 60 years of age. In addition, the booking behaviour of LeadingCampings’ guests clearly shows that autumn 2020 will be used very intensively for travelling - an understandable compensation for the spring abstinence. A generally strong reduction in the number of visitors is therefore to be expected. This assumption is likely to be reinforced since more and more exhibitors cancel their participation. They do so not only in regard of poor visitor figures but as well in respect of the health of the own staff. If we cannot meet this year at Caravan Salon – please meet us digitally at www.leadingcampings.com, facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, twitter and youtube.
New online shop
The large automotive engineering company AL-KO, which has also cancelled its participation at the Caravan Salon, has expanded its distribution channels by an online shop. It is addressing end consumers and offers do-it-yourself products of AL-KO, SAWIKO as well as exclusive third-party products for caravans and campers. ‘Our clients get a better overview of our assortment, they save time and can order products for do-it-yourself installation time- and location-independent’ says Hans Posthumus, Vice President Marketing of the AL-KO Vehicle Technology Group. ‘The brand AL-KO stands for travel comfort and security for 90 years. Also the online shop remains authentic: for safety conscious and advice intensive products we still have our local specialists shops and customer centres'. The shipping of the products from the web shop takes place only within Germany. One highlight of the shop is the GPS-tracker Cobblestone, which is only available at ‘AL-KO Fahrzeugtechnik’. It can geolocate movable objects via GPS and therefore is perfectly suitable for theft protection. The easy to handle device is ideal for campers, caravans and trailers due to its automatically activation on movement and the battery life up to ten years. The GPS-tracker and the associated app can be used free of charge and subscriptions. The GPS-tracker is easy to install such as all other products of the AL-KO web shop.
