A stylised camper with a heart, plus the slogan ‘Passion that connects’: that's the message of the Caravan-Salon Düsseldorf. It will take place from 4th to 13th of September - scaled down and with a Covid-19 concept, so that it doesn't become a ‘connection that creates suffering’. LeadingCampings are not actively participating, but will be represented with the current Holiday Guide at the booth of the cooperation partner Intercaravaning in Hall 9. Thank you, Intercaravaning! The LeadingCampings have coped well with the high season in the Covid-19 year. A big ‘thank you’ to our guests, most of them showed an understanding for the situation and accepted cooperatively the necessary restrictions. Camping with the hygiene rules of the Leadings' member companies, some of which are certified with state quality seals, is still the most pleasant way to spend your holiday in a relaxing way. For your late summer trip, we can recommend all LeadingCampings, they are excellently prepared and the proven hygiene concepts are effective in all countries. This also applies explicitly to Catalonia or Luxembourg. The infection numbers there only give cause for concern in urban areas, at party miles and on beaches in the city. We would like to encourage you to spend your camping holidays in one of the European neighbouring countries. This applies to camping with your own equipment as well as to rental properties. Our LeadingCampings would like to be optimally prepared for your arrival, therefore we ask you not to start without a reservation. We are looking forward to welcoming you in 11 European countries.

New and round
It’s almost one year ago, that the outdated wash house no. 4 at the Südsee-Camp has been completely teared down. Afterwards it went literally round and round. The new building, a magnificent rotunda, has just been finished and can be used by all guests now. Other areas such as the private bathrooms or the large playground had to be finished during the main season – the Covid-19 pandemic also influenced the building progress. The new wash house offers childrens’ washrooms, private bathrooms (premium or deluxe), wheelchair accessible bathroom including shower and toilet, rinsing room, washing machines and dryer as well as CamperClean station for emptying the cassettes. Family Thiele is very happy, that this project could be finished in the anniversary year and is looking forward to the feedback of the guests. Further information: www.suedsee-camp.de
That gives one a horse laugh: the place-name sign of the Austrian municipality ‘Hühnergeschrei’ (chicken screaming) has won the #LeadingsFunnySignHunt by far. 69 likes gathered the photo of Lars P., who won an AL-KO built-in safe for caravans and campers. Here in this newsletter, however, we have used a chicken-crying photo from buzz.oe24 because of the square picture format. The second prize, an AL-KO Cobblestone GPS Tracker, was awarded to Katja-Sara T. with 36 likes on the signpost to Oberhäslich (i.e. very-ugly). Off-season vouchers for LeadingCampings and practical pocket seats were given for ten more unusual signs. Congratulations to all winners, they have been informed and the prizes have been sent out in the meantime. We would also like to thank AL-KO for the joint organisation and the high-quality of the first two prizes. Finally, Camping.info has significantly increased the reach of the game and sent the three winners of the first prizes a camping guide each, for which we would like to thank them very much.
More and more young people are interested in camping - not only since the outburst of Covid-19, what makes most of other forms of tourism riskier and some destinations are even unreachable. And not only since the Fridays-for-Future movement denounces flights everywhere. By no means, the young outdoor enthusiasts are not travelling low-budget– they are starting at an amazingly high level. LeadingCampings are very happy to have found two multipliers: ‘Reise-Euphorie’. These are Cleo and Nico, both are twenty-something and love to be on the road and to plan new individual trips. They record their adventures with cameras and drones. Their blog complements the Youtube videos with lots of useful and detailed background information and insider tips. You find more pictures at Instagram and can follow their story here: https://www.instagram.com/reiseeuphorie/?hl=de https://www.youtube.com/reiseeuphorie https://reiseeuphorie.wordpress.com Just recently, Reise-Euphorie visited Piani di Clodia at Lake Garda and Alpencamping Nenzing in Vorarlberg with their camper. After a challenging journey through Italy, they just wanted to relax. We hope, lots of beautiful stories from further LeadingCampings will follow!
Now it is official: camping is getting academically. It was pretty painstaking to conceptualize the European Master’s programme ‘Sustainable management of campsites’ according to the necessity of the EU-Erasmus programme. After one year of intensive work, the 174-page permit of the EU is available and the implementation phase will start in October. Until then, curricula, specific teaching contents and case examples have to be worked out. The programme is addressed to persons with a bachelor, who now would like to qualify for managerial functions at camping resorts. The studies take place in English. Three universities cooperate: the tourism faculties of the University Rijeka (Croatia), Breda (The Netherlands) and Girona (Catalonia). At each place one semester has to be completed. I.e. the students get to know three important European camping countries with their different emphasises during their courses. The fourth semester is an internship and takes place at a LeadingCampings. Here, the students write their thesis on a practice-orientated topic. How the name of the programme indicates, particular attention will be paid to sustainable management. Statutory purpose of the association ‘The Leading Camping and Caravaning Parks of Europe e.V.’ is to improve the public reputation of camping. However, it is a matter of heart for us, to support the academisation of the executive teams.
