Dear guests, dear friends of LeadingCampings of Europe, in our last newsletter we happily expressed the hope that we would be able to welcome you at our booth at the CMT in January and present you the Holiday Guide fresh from the press. Since December 20th, however, the state of Baden-Württemberg has issued a new Covid-19 protection ordinance and the CMT trade fair is not allowed to take place. That is sad - but health protection comes first.
We are currently also a little helpless when you ask us for a recommendation for Christmas and New Year's holidays: Some countries, such as the Netherlands, are again in lockdown, most are considered high-risk or even variant areas. This may mean quarantine on re-entry. As of today, no one can say definitively what will apply where and when. In the Netherlands, for example, campsites are not closed, but their infrastructure is, from indoor swimming pools to restaurants. In the Alps, the ski lifts are open, but the mountain huts are closed. And no one knows if that will still be the case next week.
To be honest: We would not have wanted to imagine that winter would bring tourism more or less to a standstill once again. We can be annoyed, but we can't change it. So let's look forward together to the spring and summer seasons. Camping has proven how well it can be reconciled with Covid-19 protection requirements, when life can once again take place predominantly in the fresh air. And our member places have proven how routinely and confidently they handle the necessary protective measures. From this point of view, we have certainly not printed the Holiday Guide in vain: we will start sending it out by post in mid-January. For now, however, we wish you a Merry Christmas with your hopefully healthy loved ones and a Happy New Year in 2022, which can only get better! We look forward to seeing you at our then 37 member campsites in ten European countries!
