The German Camping Club (DCC) and the city Essen awarded the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) with the German Camping Award during the fair 'Reise & Camping'. The association is honoured for a scientific study, which is attesting the enormous importance of the caravanning tourism as an economic factor in Germany. DCC president Andreas Jörn (at the picture left) and the mayor of Essen Rudolf Jelinek (on the picture right) handed over the prize to CIVD general manager Daniel Onggowinarso (in the middle). Every year the DCC and the city Essen award personages or institutions making an outstanding contribution to the camping industry. The DCC president reasons the decision of the jury as follows: the German Camping Award honours the commitment of the CIVD for the caravanning industry and especially for the study 'the campsite and camper tourism as economic factor' . The dedication of the CIVD is giving a scientifically funded basis to the industry' . According to the study of the German Economic Institute for Tourism, vacationers with camper, caravan or tent grant the domestic economy an aggregate turnover of 12.6 billion € . The German Camping Award includes prize money of 2,500 €. The CIVD donates the money to a nonprofit educational farm for their work with children.
